Volleyball Season Preview

The Volleyball team kicks off district play with high hopes as they enter the season with a in fist place with a 16-11 record . They enter the regular season having played very well in their past tournaments, including the Texas Showdown, which they hosted. With the start of district play comes the deficult task of facing teams like Clemens and steele including rivals like New Braunfels and lasly, Canyon who is coming in 20-12 and in second place. With an Sr. outside hitter Tanyse Moehrig coming off a season ending injury and having only played 9 total games this year so far, this loss has opened the door for Jr. Naomi Ortiz to thrive in her absence. Ortiz has recorded the second in kills with 102 and KPG with 1.9.  Standout sophomore, Bekah Williams is the team leader in in both KPG and kills and has really blossomed into a all round player in just her 1st year at the varsity level. Retirning senior, Ashley Acuna comes in with a team leading 255 digs and a 4.81 DPG to go with that. Both defensive specialists, Jade Bernal and Jaci Mesa are having amazing years so far, they are 2nd and 3rd for the team lead in digs along with digs per game. lastly, Jr. Lily Sandoval is the team leader in assists with 235 and is averaging 4.35 per game. After coming off a hard end to their 2018 campain, this year is looking to be a much better season.

 

 

 

 

key players to watch for include, sophomore Bekah Williams leads the team with 121 total kills and in KPG 2.16.
