Volleyball’s Playoff Push

Tim Tschoepe, Sports Editor

With 3 games left in district play, the volleyball team sits in 5th place in district with a record of 23-17. They are 6-6 in district and coming off a 3-1 loss against the Steele Knights on Tuesday night which really hurt their playoff chances.

The game against Steele was a must win for the Rangers because that would’ve pulled the team within one game of the final playoff spot with a week and a half remaining in the regular season. The final games of the season are very winnable so the hopes of winning out and making that 4th playoff spot are still alive, but they will need help from other teams in the district.

Two of the last three games are against teams the Rangers have traded wins and losses with, they will host the below .500 team San Marcos and then the last week of the season they face the 3rd place unicorns and the 4th place knights.

The Rangers will at least need to win the games against Steele and New Braunfels to keep their playoff aspirations alive. The Knights will play the Canyon Cougars, East Central Hornets, then come to the valley for hopefully match for the final playoff spot.
