Aquatics placed 15th in state competition this Thursday and Friday at the university of Texas in Austin. They sent six swimmers to the competition: Laney Skrobanek, who swam the 100 Back; Joe Hunt, Carter Hill, Chris Mickelson and Amechi Nwaeze, who set a regional record in the 200 Medley Relay; Ejike Nwaeze, who competed in the 200 Freestyle Relay with Hunt, Hill and Mickelson; and Amechi Nwaeze, who competed in the 50 and 100 Freestyle.

The boys’ 200 Medley Relay was their biggest strength, but due to a too-early start, their 4th place finish was disqualified. But the boys’ 200 Freestyle relay, which placed 7th overall, boosted their overall placement. Senior Hunt also pulled a 5th-place finish in the 100 back.

Skrobanek, who set the district record for the 100 back, placed 20th in the event. She was the only girl on the team to advance to the state level. She also placed 1st in regional competition. Amechi Nwaeze placed 8th overall in the 50 Free and 6th overall in the 100 Free.

This meet was the last of the season, and will be the final high school meet for seniors Hunt, Mickelson and Amechi Nwaeze.
