Boys basketball lost their season finale to Steele on Tuesday, 59-58. Thanks to an East Central loss and New Braunfels win, the Rangers controlled their own postseason destiny, but the Knights pulled out a win with a last-second layup. The Rangers finished the season 6-8, and 15-19 overall.

Six wrestlers qualified for state at last week’s Region IV meet, led by returning qualifiers Sage Benca (four state appearances), Efren Arismendez (two state appearances) and Selena Sifuentes Shaffer (two state appearances). It’s the team’s third consecutive year with six state qualifiers.

Swimming will be competing at the State Championship meet on Feb 18 and 19, with the girls 200 medley relay being called up last Wednesday. Vanessa Weatherford also qualified in the 100 and 50 meter freestyle, and Laney Skrobanek qualified in the 100 backstroke.

Girls soccer finished the first half of district undefeated after a tough 1-0 win over Steele last night. Junior forward Jasmin Dominguez scored off of a free kick with just a minute left in the game to take the victory home for the Rangers. They will play at Wagner this Friday.

Boys soccer also continues district undefeated after a 4-0 victory over Steele.
