Track competed at the UIL State Championship meet this weekend, at the University of Texas at Austin. Jazmyn Singh took sixth in state for the 400 meter, and Alyssa Jones took fifth in long jump. The girls 4×400, consisting of Mia Perez, Jazmyn Singh, Alyssa Jones, and Favour Uduji, took second place at the state meet, breaking the San Antonio record for the event and landing them 7th in the nation, with a time of 3:44.59. Tevijon Williams also took ninth place in the 100 meter, and fifth in state for the 200 meter.

The series went three games, but baseball beat Westlake this weekend, winning Games 2 and 3 by one run apiece. The nailbiter of a series ended on a fittingly dramatic final play, with David De Hoyos and Bryce Wells overcoming an error to tag out a Chaparral runner at second. The Rangers will now move on to a third round matchup against longtime rival Reagan, a series which will begin at North East Sports Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Game 1 will be a “white out” game in honor of Cody Fuller, a former Ranger baseball player who passed away earlier this week.
