Volleyball won their seventh game in a row last night in a battle against Canyon. They are now tied with the Cougars for first in district.

The Rangers won in just four sets; box score matches were 25-20, 25-19, 25-27 and 25-13.

“It honestly feels kind of surreal,” junior Brittan Fedyk. “It was such a huge win for us, both literally and figuratively. The win really showcased all of our hard work, put in during off-season and pre-season, is truly paying off right now. It also helped our morale going into playoff season in the next few weeks. I’m so proud of this team and how hard we fought for the win.”

Fedyk had 38 digs, while senior Lillie Johnson had 21 kills, and senior Hayley Barsky had 23 assists.

“I think they’ve really done a good job of working hard in practice,” head coach Melissa Miller said. “I think maybe at the beginning of the season we just thought practice was more about going through the motions and just practicing to practice. Now they understand that if we come in and work on the things that are weaknesses, they won’t be weaknesses anymore.”

The team has just two games left in the season: Boerne Champion at home this Friday and at Seguin next Tuesday. They’ve already secured a spot in the playoffs with their current record of 11-1 and position as top district seed.

“It’s exciting,” Miller said. “I mean it’s a tough district with a lot of teams that deserve to be in the playoffs, and not just to be there, but for us to be at the top of it, I think shows how determined and dedicated this team is.”
