‘Bla Bla Bland’

The final people quietly walked into a theater packed from top to bottom. Everyone (including me) was excited to experience the so-called masterpiece, ‘La La Land.’ Unfortunately, by the end of the movie, I was struggling to stay awake.

On Dec. 9, ‘La La Land’ premiered, showcasing a typical love story between a girl and guy who have a shared love for the arts. Throughout the movie, we follow the main characters Mia and Sebastian, played by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, meeting and falling in love. Mia chases her dreams to become an actress, while Sebastian attempts to open his own jazz club. The movie begins with a bang, but sadly that was my favorite part of the movie.

Despite being a musical, the same song is played at least three times throughout the movie, making it repetitive and annoying. The middle of the movie becomes dull and boring as our lovers separate to pursue their personal dreams, making me check my phone every five minutes wondering when it would be over.

‘La La Land’ has a decent soundtrack and good actors (who can’t sing or dance) and a cliché plot, making this a bland, mediocre movie. ‘La La Land’ wasn’t necessarily a bad movie, but I’m never going to watch it again.
