Wyatt Tomallo, Sports Writer

Senior Chase Bracher crossed the finish line first in the 3200m run with sweat drenching down his face and a heart full of pride as he knew he qualified for the Texas Relays on Mar 18 during the Smithson Valley Spring Break Invitational.

Senior Chase Bracher is a part of both varsity track and cross country teams where he has placed top three in seven individual events during this outdoor track season. Bracher has already placed first in two individual events for this year’s track season, the 1600m and 3200m along with finishing first place on the 4×800 relay and Distance Medley Relay.

“ My goals this year is to make it to regionals and to hopefully place at the meet” Bracher said.

Running has always been a big part of Bracher’s life ever since he was younger, whether it was competing at 5k’s or winning his age group in Spartan races. Bracher attended Smithson Valley Middle School where he was a standout runner for the Mustangs on their cross country team through both 7 and 8 grade.

He is not only a star runner for the varsity cross country and track squads but also an academic scholar. Bracher has a GPA of 3.86 while taking AP/Dual Credit classes to go along with him being ranked number fifty-six in his class and having already been accepted into numerous universities such as Texas A&M and SMU.

Bracher will be competing at the Texas Relays for his final meet on Mar 31- Apr 1 at Myers Stadium, UT Austin.

“Having raced at the Texas Relays last year, and knowing this will be my last time racing this meet, it doesn’t really cross my mind as I’m too excited to actually get out there and race”.
