The football team has their sights set on a dominate 7-0 record and a potential 3-0 record in district play as they take on the undefeated Clemens Buffaloes Friday night

The Buffaloes are aiming to build off of last weeks 28-7 win against the Canyon Cougars. The offense is dominated by the running game attack. Senior running back Marshawn Brown is averaging 172 rushing yards per game with 12 touchdowns on the year so far.

While the offense finds success running the football, their stout defensive unit is what they rely on the most. This gritty defense holds its opponents to an impressive 7.5 points per game, which ranks fourth best in the entire state. The Buffs have put together three straight shutout victories and have only let up seven points in their past four games.

The Rangers on the other hand have one of the most explosive offenses in the state averaging about 44 points per game. This offense is led by junior quarterback Levi Williams who will be tested against a tough Clemens secondary.

On the defensive side of the ball the team has shut down their opponents leading to two shutout wins, and an opponent points per game average at 10.8, which is good for ninth best in Texas.

The Buffaloes senior starting quarterback Mitchell Fauber and Ranger junior quarterback Levi Williams are both first year starters for their teams, and are both filling big shoes at the quarterback position from last season, as former Buffalo Frank Harris and former Ranger Josh Adkins squared off in last seasons meeting between the two squads, which ended in a 45-21 win for the Rangers.

The game takes place at Ranger Stadium on Friday night, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
