Hundreds of students rejoice in song together. A guest band played for the parents, faculty, and students that attended during Fields of Faith Oct. 4.

After learning her friend Maddie Carlson would give her testimony during Fields of Faith, senior Anjelica Rios knew she had to be there to support her friend.

“The last time I went to Fields of Faith was freshman year, so going in I kind of knew the general idea of what was going to happen, like worship and testimonies,” Rios said. “But what I wasn’t prepared for was how the Holy Spirit was going to move so many people to find Jesus that day and also give me time to reflect on some of the things that were happening in my own life.”

Rios was one of about 500 attendees who came together as a community to love and praise God during Fields of Faith Oct. 4 at Ranger Stadium.

Coach Lisa Daigle organized the event with students leading testimony and praise. Paul Brant from the Bulverde Baptist Church was apart of hosting the event as well along with a live band to play music for students to sing and dance to.

The music performed allowed students to rejoice together, with students dancing and singing along to the songs. Student Joaquin Rodriguez said that this was one of his favorite parts of the whole night.

“The music opened up my heart and prepared me for the rest of the night,” Rodriguez said.

There were also prayer groups, where students got together and prayed for themselves, the people around them, and their world.

“I choose to commit my life to Christ and be saved,” Rodriguez said. “It was a very inspiring and emotional time. I felt like God just gave me a boost of confidence and helped me get all of the pain I had in my heart out.”

Sophomore Katherine Barry also mentioned that the music was one of her favorite parts as well just because it was all in the name of God.

“I went because I love events where people can come together and not be embarrassed to sing or dance because it’s all for the Lord,” Barry said. “Even if there are people judging you, you don’t even care because you’re so wrapped up in His presence and His love for you.”

Testimonies were also a big part of the night. Students lead testimony, sharing stories of hardship and struggle with their peers who attended. Testimonies were given by Seniors Maddie Carlson, Kayci Peak, and Isabeau Daily.

“It takes a lot of courage to be able to make yourself so vulnerable in front of all the people you go to school with,”  Barry said. “I really respected them for that and their words hit home for me and I know that they did for others too.”

The crowd left Fields of Faith, some crying tears of joy surrounded by friends and the power of God.

“Fields of Faith really got me into my feels,” Rios said. “It got me thinking about how thankful I am to have some of the people I have in my life now and definitely reminded me how much I love my faith and God.”
