After a long week of school and staying after for meetings, the CyberPatriot team trudged through a 7-hour competition this past Friday, Jan. 19.

With a total of four teams with four to five members each, the teams worked together to clean up the image that held the competition.

Even though the teams struggled with the Packet Tracer quiz, each team did fairly well with the image, scoring around 50 out of 100 points.

After seven long hours, and multiple boxes of pizza, the teams closed the images and finished out the competition strongly.

“We had success in a couple platforms,” junior Garret Meisman said, “and we won’t know where we are officially until a week from now probably.”

Although it is Meisman’s first year with the team, he’s been working with computer technology since he was around the age of five.

“I practice around 4 hours a week, which is usually spent goofing around and trying to practice what I already know so I can do it better in a competition,” Meisman said.

“Teams had to secure a Windows 2008 serves, a Windows 10 client and a Ubuntu 14 client,” physics teacher, and cyber patriots team coordinator, Keven Harshbarger said. “In addition, they had to configure a network using Packet Tracer, and answer forensic questions. I’m very proud of all of them.”

The team plans to continue to improve for upcoming competitions this year.
