The winter guard represented the school by winning first place at their first competition on Jan 27. The show was titled “Applause.”

“Most shows use depressing and nonfiction to get emotion from the audience,” senior Carlie Gothard said.

The guard used a more “upbeat” theme for the show to attract the audience’s attention. The show consists of two colorful spin flags and rifles.

The guard competed on Feb. 3 at Canyon High School for the Winter Guard International San Antonio Regional Preliminaries and received sixth place in class Scholastic A.

“We made several changes to the show because there is a lot going on and these changes will also help us score higher.” color guard instructor, Samuel Woodfield said.

The Color Guard will perform on Feb. 24 at Wagner High School for Texas Educational Color Guard Association.
