The girls wrestling team took down the District 14 competition Saturday and advanced to the Region 4 tournament along with six individuals from the boys team.

Both teams look to continue their success heading into the Region 4 tournament Feb. 16-17 in San Antonio.

Varsity girls won the district championship with 121 team points, edging both San Marcos and Austin Bowie.

Individual district champions Lindsey Rittimann, Jessie Polk and Kendall McGarity led the team.  In addition, Isabella Ruiz was a district runner-up.

The boys team qualified six individuals for region: Carson Palumbo, Jack Coonrod, Milan Kinzy and Zarek Holley with alternates Donovan Castillo and Jace Hamidou.  The wrestling team crowned its first boys’ district champion, Holley.
