After a breakout junior season, quarterback Levi Williams announced his commitment to play football at the University of Houston on Monday morning via twitter.

“It’s a great place in Houston, they have a great staff with coach Briles and coach Applewhite,” said Williams “I visited a bunch of different schools, and after all that and praying about it and talking to my family I decided Houston was the best fit for me.”

Williams racked up 2111 passing yards to go along with 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions, also adding 380 rushing yards last season. He was named Newcomer of the Year by the San Antonio Express News as he lead the team to a 10-2 record and their first district title in four years before a second round defeat to Austin Westlake.

“There is a lot of pressure off of me having committed now so it’s not a distraction which was my biggest thing,” said Williams “I wanted to commit before spring ball so that we could focus on getting better instead of making it a recruiting show.”

After committing to Houston, Williams now joins seven other members of the 2017-2018 team who have committed to go play football at the collegiate level. Williams will look to guide his team to a second consecutive district title next season.
