Cast of “Man From Nebraska” celebrates their win at 6A Zone competition at Canyon.

“Man From Nebraska”, the seemingly ordinary play, presented their show at the zone competition on March 5 at Canyon. Out of the four schools that competed, three were going to advance when the theatre department went head to head with Judson, JECA and Canyon.

Many of the cast were unsure at first that their show had the ability to advance. They were told to treat this competition as their last. Senior River Thompson, winner of the All-Star Cast award, believed that zone was their curtain call.

“That wasn’t because of our performances or company but, rather, I was really nervous and did not want to get my hopes up,” Thompson said.

The show proved to be a strong piece. Senior Lindsey Curtis, Best Actress, believes that the interactions between the characters in the play made “Man From Nebraska” worthy of praise.

“It’s real relationships between real, who honestly have put in so much effort to make the thoughts of most everyone accessible to all,” Curtis said.

The cast of “Man From Nebraska” has been practising and perfecting their play for the past two months almost everyday after school. They look forward to their next competition again at Canyon on March 20.

“I am thankful we can keep the story alive, there is so much more,” said Theatre director Casey O’Bryant. “I am proud.”
