The girls volleyball team are jumping into district play on Friday with a 7:00 p.m. away game at Clemens. The team has prepared for district play following a 3 game to 1 win over Antonion, which marked their 14th win of the season. Overall the team has done a decent job as last year they entered district play with a 15-9 record compared to this years team coming in with a 14-10 record.

This Clemens team has proved to be one of Texas’s biggest powerhouses as they finished last season with a 40-6 overall record barely edging out the Rangers effort in winning the district title. This year Clemens looks to be more of the same as they boast a 22-6 record coming into district games.

The players to watch out for on the opposing team are sophomore hitter Canada Bachman who is leading the team in kills with 303 total this year and Junior setter Cassidy Steadman who leads the team in assists with 790.

For the Rangers, the team is led by a duo including Junior hitter Tanyse Moehrig who has 174 kills on the year along with Senior hitter Lauren Domel who has added another 182 kills for the season.

This is the 2nd season under new head volleyball coach Courtney Patton, who impressed in her first year finishing with a strong 24-16 record and a first round tough loss against a very difficult San Antonio Clark team who went on to finish in the third round of the playoffs.

The Rangers will look to get their season off to a good start in this challenging matchup against Clemens at 7:00.
