About 50 students already have donated to this year’s Toys for Tots program sponsored on campus by the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. JROTC also will collect toys tonight at the football game.

Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. On Oct. 27, ROTC started putting boxes at the front of the school to allow kids inside and outside the organization to donate toys.

“It makes me feel very helpful, very involved in the community, makes me have pride, that I can influence peoples lives that I do not know,” junior, and 3rd rank officer, Christian Welch said.

Students can donate things such as toy cars, barbies, and stuffed animals, to help out. The program will be running until the end of November.
