Leading up to Veterans Day, a national holiday commemorated on Sunday, Nov. 11, SVHS, once again, offers up a week of opportunity for students and faculty to express individual feelings of patriotism for the US military through colors beginning Tuesday, Nov. 6:

Tuesday, Nov. 6: wear green for the army.

Wednesday, Nov. 7: wear red for the marines and coast guard.

Thursday, Nov. 8: wear blue for the navy and air force.

Friday, Nov. 9: wear black for the nation`s fallen soldiers.

Since Veterans Day is on a Sunday, the Veterans Day assembly will take place on Monday, Nov. 9, with red, white and blue serving as the wearable colors of the day.

2018 marks the 99th consecutive year that a form of Veterans Day has been established in the U.S., which was previously called “Armistice Day” before revision in 1954 transformed the name to the one known to this day.
