Sleeping soundly, nestled up in warm, bountiful blankets, then snaking an arm through the edges  to ram a finger on the snooze button. For those gripped with the doom of doing so for another two months, the thought of fast-forwarding to the 2019-2020 school year and repeating the trend for another nine months is worse, even grueling.

While confronting the rest of the semester day by day is less overwhelming, looking ahead to what the future has in store for the school year this coming August allows expectation and anticipation for students, teachers, staff, and administration alike.

The following is a list of important dates for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year:

August:

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL (start of the first nine weeks): Tuesday, Aug. 27th

September:

  • Labor Day (students and staff off): Monday the 2nd
  • Fair Day (students and staff off): Friday the 27th

October:

  • Teacher Prep and Planning (students off): Monday the 14th
  • End of the first nine weeks: Friday the 18th
  • Start of the second nine weeks: Monday the 21st

November:

  • Early Release: Wednesday the 20th
  • Thanksgiving Break (students and staff off): Monday the 25th through Sunday Dec. 1

December:

  • Last day before Winter Break: Friday the 20th
  • Winter Break (students and staff off): Monday the 23rd through  Monday Jan. 6
    • End of the second nine weeks

January:

  • Teacher Preparation and Planning (students off): Monday the 6th
  • Start of the third nine weeks: Tuesday the 7th
  • MLK Day (students and staff off): Monday the 20th
  • Early Release: Wednesday the 29th

February:

  • Teacher Preparation and Planning (students off): Friday the 14th
  • President’s Day (students and staff off): Monday the 17th
  • Early Release: Wednesday the 26th

March:

  • Spring Break (students and staff off): Monday the 9th through Sunday the 15th
    • End of the third nine weeks: Friday the 13th
  • Start of the fourth nine weeks: Monday the 16th
  • Early Release: Wednesday the 25th

April:

  • Good Friday (students and staff off): Friday the 20th
  • Bad Weather Make-Up Day: Friday the 25th
  • Early Release: Wednesday the 29th

May:

  • Memorial Day (students and staff off): Monday the 25th
  • LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Thursday the 28th (Early Release)
    • End of the fourth nine weeks
  • 2nd Bad Weather Make-Up: Friday the 29th.
  • Graduation: Saturday the 30th
