Boys and girls soccer close out regular season, head into playoffs next week

Boys soccer finished out their 2019 season with an overall record of 11-8-5. They take on their next opponent in Kyle Lehman in the Class 6A bisdistrict game this Thursday.

Boys soccer finished out their 2019 season with an overall record of 11-8-5. They take on their next opponent in Kyle Lehman in the Class 6A bisdistrict game this Thursday.

Baseball:

Baseball lost to Churchill 14-24 on March 23.

Colton Eilers, Gavin Badurak, Kasen Wells, Garrett Brooks, and Ryan Ruff led in hits with 2.

Caden Norman led in RBI with 4; followed by Colton Eilers and Kasen Wells with 2 each.

Colton Eilers led the team in strikeouts with 4.

This brings the Rangers’ record to 7-15-1, as they look to win against Judson on Tuesday.

 

Lacrosse:

 

The varsity boys lacrosse squad played powerhouse teams, Cedar Ridge and Magnolia last weekend in Houston.

The team beat the state runner ups, Cedar Ridge in a 9-7 shootout before falling to division leader, Magnolia 10-8 on Saturday. The team was lead by both seniors Aaron Clark and Daniel Conner with a combined 7 goals. The team also had help by junior Ian Feely who contributed with three goals of his own.

The team looks to continue their momentum heading into rivalry week against district opponent Reagan who is undefeated on the season thus far. They take on the Rattlers next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Jumbo Evans Sports Park.

 

Softball:

Softball lost to San Marcos 10-1 on Friday in their sixth district game of the season.

The Rangers led 1-0 going into the fourth inning, where the Rattlers had three straight innings scoring at least 3 runs to cruise to a win.

San Marcos had 2 errors to Smithson Valley 6, and had 14 hits while SV had 3.

Smithson Valley is 8-8 overall and 2-4 in district play while San Marcos is 8-8 overall and 1-5 in district. 

 

Boys Soccer:

In the final game of the season on Friday, boys soccer took a loss at home against New Braunfels 2-1.

The Rangers lone goal was scored by junior Zarek Urrutia and assisted by sophomore Ryan Harley.

Sophomore Micah Jenkins and senior Ryan Kelley and each allowed 1 goal.

 

Girls Soccer:

Girls soccer beat Cibolo Steele 1-0 in San Marcos, with Hailey Smith scoring the only goal of the game and Melyna Martinez saved 3 goals. District playoffs begin on Friday at 6:00 p.m. against Westlake.
