From staff reports

From trash bags to Toys for Tots, the local community has numerous ways to help the less fortunate this holiday season. Here’s a rundown on all the ways to help.

The Students United for Respect and Equality women’s rights committee is collecting donations for the Kendall County Women’s Shelter. Donations of paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags (tall kitchen and 33 gallon sizes) can be dropped off in Room B120 or Room A117 by Dec. 14.

Toys for boys and girls of all ages are needed for the Toys for Tots drive. Place unwrapped toys in the Toys for Tots collection boxes around campus by Dec. 7.

Pick up an ornament on the Angel Tree in the front office and buy gifts for the child named. Families have been affected by the pandemic and economic situation, so gifts under the tree would go a long way toward a merry Christmas. All gifts must be returned by Dec. 10.

Deck the Halls of SV on Dec. 11 for the FACS Christmas fundraiser from 2 to 5 p.m. The $2 admission covers games, crafts and family activities. All funds raised will be donated to the Student Support Specialists to use in helping economically disadvantaged students with school and extra-curricular needs. Also, FACS is still collecting any donated or loaned Christmas decorations.
