Five fun things to do this summer

After nine months of of hard work, Summer is rolling around again. The weather is getting nice and school is almost over. Here are five things you can do during the hot,sunny Summer break.

Blanco State Park

About a hour away from San Antonio, start the summer on a good note by paying a visit to the Blanco State Park. Admission fee for ages 12 and up is only $5 with fun outdoor activities to do with family and friends. Swim, fish, paddle or even just relax on the one mile stretch of the Blanco River. On land, hiking, biking and camping available for overnight stay. Enjoy the hot Texas weather in this 105 acre park.

Netflix

More of a inside person vs outdoors? If so, Netflix is a great way to spend the whole summer vacations. Either alone or with friends, viewing tv shows and movies can be fun and relaxing. Netflix offers around 2,000 shows to binge-watch and over 4,200 movies. Some recommendations include, “13 reasons why”, “Zootopia” and “Nightcrawler”. So, bring on the snacks and comfy pjs and get to watching.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Summer means hanging out with friends, and what else could be better than heading to our local six flags? Although more on the pricier side, “Six Flags Fiesta Texas”, is for both thrill-seekers and moderate rides alike. This theme park has it all. Rollercoasters, shows, food and even some water rides are present at the park.  Six Flags also has a sister water park, for those hot, blazing summer days. Finish your visit on a good note by watching the amazing firework show every weekend night.

San Antonio Museum of Art

Just because it’s summer, that doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. Come to the San Antonio Museum of Art for a quiet and educational tour of different American, Asian, European and Islamic art pieces. The art’s beauty, showcased in different halls of the mansion turned tourist attraction,makes the trip unforgettable. Also, admission is free on Tuesday’s.

Donkey lady bridge

Going towards south side San Antonio is the eerie and supposed haunted donkey lady bridge. According to the legend, a woman received third-degree burns in house fire started by her husband. Her face disfigured and driven to insanity, she would terrorize anyone that would come near her. Now, people come around at night to see her ghost, with reports of people interacting with her. Paying a visit to the bridge will lead to a terrifying, fun night.
