Junior Jazmyn Singh and sophomore Alyssa Jones showed up and showed out in the 2023 Texas Tech Under Armour HS classic, both finishing with new personal records.

Singh competed in the 200m dash and placed 30th with a time of 25.03. In the 400, the first time around she completed it 56.87 – a new PR for her.  In the final 400m dash, she placed 9th with a time of 57.88. This was Singh’s second indoor meet.

Sophomore Alyssa Jones competed in the 60m dash and placed 17th with a time of 7.69. She also competed in the 200m dash and was the 8th person to make it to finals with a time of 24.25.

“I was the only girl who showed up in my heat,” Jones said. “So I ran my 200-meter alone.”

Jones placed fourth overall with a new PR of 24.21.

“We got high school girls out here running 24.2 in a heat by themselves,” Texas Track Dad Podcast (Vance Johnson) posted on Twitter.
