Wrestling advances to regionals

The girls wrestling team is the district champion in its first year of existence, finishing with a score of 136 beating eight other teams to capture the title.

Seniors Taylor Mooney (165 lbs) and Ariana Mendoza (185 lbs) and junior Kendall McGarity (215 lbs) who all placed first in their respective weight classes.

Edie Wooten placed second in the 95 pound division while the team had Nicole Sandoval, Skylar Moore, Isabella Ruis, and Lindsey Rittiman all place third in their respective divisions and Nina Guyon finishing fifth in the 119 pound division.

All these girls will be advancing to regionals with Guyon as an alternate for the team.

The boys team finished 7th in the district. CJ Kuehler took third place in his division while James Weaver took fourth place in his division.

Both boys will advance to the regional tournament while Carson Padilla and Trey Perez finished fifth in their divisions will fill in as alternates at the regional meet.

The regional meet will take place this Friday and Saturday at Blossom Athletic Center.
