Annual band fajita dinner fires up funds

Tim Tschoepe

There might not be a football game Friday, but the band will still perform during the annual fajita dinner,

Jake Perez and Joey Clark

The band is conducting its 11th annual benefit fajita dinner Friday 6-9 p.m. in the school cafeteria and will include a silent auction.

Fajita meal tickets are $10 each and can be bought at the door. Entrée meals include beef or chicken fajitas as well as rice, beans, tortillas, desserts, and beverages.

Live entertainment will be provided by the band, and food will be served by the color guard.

Last year’s auction boasted 275 auction items, and the band has set just as ambitious of a goal this year. Items this year include an Americus Diamond pendant, a one week T-Bar Camp certificate, and two reserved student parking passes.

Each instrument section will put together a themed basket up for auction. Themes include Movie Night, Weekend Getaway and Date Night. Anyone interested in donating items to the silent auction are to contact Stephanie Kuhn at [email protected].

The fajita dinner benefit is the biggest fundraiser that the band holds. Previous dinners have raised thousands of dollars, and this year, with the line up of items available, the band hopes to raise just as much or more. All proceeds support the band program, funding transportation, show music rights, uniforms, and instrument rentals.
