Community starts fundraiser for staff member with cancer
Multiple opportunities in place to assist agricultural teacher’s treatment
November 22, 2019
Agriculture teacher Canaan Dreibrodt, was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer. Earlier this semester, he underwent a surgery that extracted a tumor in his parotid gland, which receded all traces of the cancer. To avoid a relapse, a treatment, known as proton therapy, is recommended.
The only downside is the cost: 159,100 dollars. Dreibrodt’s health insurance won’t cover the treatment due to the belief that it’s “experimental.”
If you want to help, donate to his go fund meĀ by Nov. 25. Also, First United Bank established a benefit account for the cause, checks can be written to Canaan or Mollie Dreibrodt with “Benefit Fund” labeled in the memo line.
Lastly, The Branch, on Hwy 46, is taking 15% of payed orders from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Nov. 25 as donations for Dreibrodt.
