Both girls’ and boys’ swim teams secured their fifth and sixth consecutive district titles, respectively, this past week at Davis Natatorium.

Thirteen girls and 10 boys return this weekend for region on Thursday and Friday. Swimmers who placed in the top six in their events advance to state competition.

The boys dominated the relays, winning five of six, with the lone outlier being a second place finish. The 200 free relay team, composed of Carter Hill, Ejike Nwaeze, Joe Hunt and Amechi Nwaeze, set a Bill Walker pool record. 

“I think that everyone came to that meet ready to win, and that is what helped us a lot,” freshman swimmer Carson Blair said. “Overall, I think we did very well.” 

The girls, who trounced their competition, placed in the top three in 11 of 12 events, including first place finishes in three of six relays. Laney Skrobanek set a district record in the 100 back. 

The girls scored 145 points, twice as many points as runner-up Cibolo Steele. The boys scored 159.5 points, soaring past second place Schertz Clemens’ 110.5 points.
