A tale of three ties
October 20, 2015
One was emblazoned with a Texas A&M logo. One was embroidered with wavy stripes. And the other looked like it was made by Jerry Garcia himself.
Seniors Brittany Shroeder, Natalie Drewfs, and Emily O’Brien each created a tie for the principals. The three girls presented their finished products to principal Michael Wahl and assistant principals Carlos Garza and Dean Hofer on Oct. 9.
“The purpose of the assignment was to be able to communicate with a client and satisfy their wants,” O’Brien said.
After asking what kind of material and design each wanted, the girls began gathering fabrics to produce personalized ties.
“I have an embroidery machine at home,” O’Brien said about the A&M tie she made for Garza.
Drewfs used the school’s machine to create the embroidery on Wahl’s tie, while Schroeder sewed the tie for Hofer.
