One goal was all the girls’ soccer team needed to advance to the second round. The team beat Churchill 1-0 on March 24 in first round action of the playoffs.

Junior goalkeeper Natalie Kutac made sure the lone goal scored by the team was enough with a save on both of Churchill’s attempts. Senior Midfielder Leah Whitaker scored the only goal of the game in the second half off an assist from sophomore forward Gabby Valdez.

The team will play Clark at 8 p.m. April 1 at the UTSA Soccer Field. This will be the first match up between the two teams this season. Clark beat East Central 1-0 to advance to the second round and finished fourth in District 27 this season.
