Girls soccer advances to third round

Another shutout from junior Goalkeeper Natalie Kutac helped the girls’ team advance to the third round.
The girls’ team won 2-0 against Clark in its Area round match up on April 1. The team scored both of its goals in the second half. Sophomore Midfielder Kaitlyn Bumgarner and freshman forward Hayley Smith each scored one goal.
The team will take on O’Connor in the region quarterfinals on April 5 at p.m. at the UTSA soccer field. This will be the first match up between the two teams.O’Connor finished second in District 27-6A and has scored 10 goals in the playoffs so far and given up zero.
The boys’ team went up against Stevens in its second round game April 1.
Stevens came out hot and scored in the third minute of play, but the scored stayed 1-0 through halftime.After the half, Stevens took a 2-0 lead but the team answered in with a goal by senior defender Elijah Thompson off an assist from senior forward Andrew Beard. The team could not find the goal again, and Stevens secured its lead with a goal in the last four minutes of play.
The boys’ team finished with an overall record of 14-4-4 and won District 25-6A.
