Committee to select 2021-2022 academic calendar
Which will it be: Option A or Option B?
January 21, 2021
The district’s Academic Calendar Committee asked for feedback from students this week regarding next year’s schedule for the 2020-2021 school year. The voting deadline was Jan. 15, and the committee will gather up tomorrow, Jan. 22, to review said feedback and make the final say.
As usual, two academic calendar options are available, and each one includes the start and end days of the school year, holidays, bad weather make-up day, breaks, and various other noteworthy dates.
“Students are going to gravitate towards schedules that will make them more productive in the school day,” senior Lanie Stanley said, “so when the school listens to students’ opinions on the schedule, their students will be more productive.”
The feedback coming from students allows the committee to make decisions based on what the community prefers.
“I prefer Option B because I actually like having an extra day of school,” sophomore Morgan Miller said. “I like having more break time even if that means the school year is a day longer.”
Students had a choice of how next year is going to look, giving a voice to the student body as a whole. It’s now up to the committee to make the choice that will be executed come fall.
