Fall Fest falls back together
Annual event returns to normal after COVID-19 restrictions
October 26, 2021
Fall Fest is a phrase people hear each year whenever November comes around, when the leaves fall, and the weather starts to change.
Here, it’s a community event organized by the FACS club and happens to be an annual event that is put together with the help of the school clubs and organizations on campus.
“[My] students assist however needed, making posters, decorations, setting up, volunteering at tables, and cleaning up,” Aubrie Herring, the Fall Fest organizer, said.
This year Fall Fest will be on the October 27. Everyone can get in free but they encourage people to bring in canned food for the food drive.
“The canned food will be donated to GVTC for their Thanksgiving Giveback Project, ” Herring said. The event will start after school at 5:30 and end at eight.
The event will have activities hosted by clubs and organizers for everyone to participate in. Some of the activities planned that will be hosted by the clubs this year include: games, costumes, a canned food drive, trick or treating, arts and crafts and more, as well as a haunted hallway hosted by members of the student council.
“Each organization hosts a game or an activity and families with children from our feeder pattern elementary school come and play and trick or treat,” Herring said.
This year the event has many more participants than last year, last year they didn’t have many participants and had to split into groups so the event could still go on as planned.
The clubs that will be participating this year include, ROTC, BSU, Girls Basketball, FCCLA, Culinary, SV United, Girls Soccer, Ag, Cheer, Key Club, StuCo, ASL club, FACS, Robotics, Softball, NHS, and SURE Club so far.
“This year the event will be ‘back to normal’, hosted in the building, not as a drive through like last year,” Herring said.
