After a tough contest at Texas Tech in Lubbock Saturday, the FFA horse judging team came out state champions.

It competed with 70 teams from all over the state. The team qualified to go on to nationals at The National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in October.

The team members consisted of Catherine Fadok – 8th high individual, Lindsey Raba, Madison Oquin – 3rd high individual, Katie Young and Clayton Elbel.

In horse evaluation, students evaluate and rank horses based on breed characteristics, confirmation, and performance. As a team, students solve problems related to equine selection, management, nutrition and production.
