The Class 6A cutoff number for the 2022-2024 realignment cycle will be 2,225, Matt Stepp reported on Wednesday morning. That puts Smithson Valley (2,086 projected enrollment) squarely in line to drop to Class 5A Division I. According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, that could put them in District 12-5A-I with Canyon, Wagner, MacArthur, Boerne Champion, Seguin and Pflugerville Hendrickson. Depending on how the UIL divvies up schools, the Rangers could either wind up in Region III (which could include schools from San Antonio to Houston to Georgetown) or Region IV (which could include the Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi).
