Softball season comes to an end

After closing off the regular season on a three game winning streak the softball team prepared for its first round matchup with the Reagan Rattlers. The team finished off the regular season with a 14-14 record and a third place finish in district. Reagan, who finished their regular season with a 23-4-1 record, looked to be a very tough first round matchup for the girls.

In the first game of their best two out of three series the Rattlers took an early lead on the girls going up 8-3 in the 4th inning. After a fairly stagnant 5th and 6th the team went into the bottom of the 7th down 9-3. Despite a major rally by the team they fell to the Rattlers 9-6.

In game two of the series the team went up 2-0 early on the Rattlers, but faced some controversy because of a protest from the Reagan head coach about the use of an illegal bat by freshman outfielder Hannah Kolhmansbergers. After a lengthy delay the game was set to resume only to once again be delayed by a rain delay. The game resumed the next day with the team up 2-0 in the 2nd inning. After a back and forth battle the team ended up falling to the Rattlers 4-3, concluding their season.

The team fought hard all season to get into the playoffs and carried that same fight into their first round matchup. Unfortunately they were not able to pull out a victory and now look forward to next season.
