The Fresh-est review out there
Hulu’s new original movie combines romance with horror

Don’t worry, no spoilers ahead.
Well where to begin? All I’m gonna say is that Steve is a grade-A psychopath. That just goes to say that the acting in Hulu’s new movie “Fresh” is outstanding.
The stars of the film, Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar-Jones, delivered a truly exciting experience, and it was so fun to watch. With this being Jones’ first big name film, I think she did a wonderful job.
“Fresh” was directed by Mimi Cave, a filmmaker who previously directed “I’m Happy, I Promise”, “Vessel”, “Sleigh Bells: And Saints” and “Vance Joy: We’re Going Home”.
Now this movie is not for the faint of heart or weak stomachs–it takes on some seriously grim topics and shows some of the extreme horrors of dating.
The film is set around Noa, a young woman struggling to find the right partner until she meets Steve. The beginning their relationship seems like something out of a Disney movie (kind of), but soon things take a very different turn.
To me, Noa was obviously an insecure character who wanted a strong relationship, and she wanted it so badly she was willing to trust Steve right away. However, her character development was amazing.
My favorite character by far was Mollie, Noa’s best friend. If you don’t have a Mollie in your life, you need to find yourself one.
“Fresh” was definitely something new and created a whole new level of fear about dating. The entire film basically solidified my choice in staying single.
The film, considering its modern day twist and innovative choice of topic, has done surprisingly well. It was rated a 6.7 on IMDB, and given an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Going into this movie, I was a little skeptical about it. I was worried it was going to be some excessively gory B movie, but I was surprised. Don’t get me wrong, it was still disturbing, but the acting and the plot of the movie really did make up for the gore.
Now, I don’t think I’ll be watching it again, but it was a good movie, good script, good story and amazing acting.
