The FACS program is hosting SPUD Week next week, April 25-29. This year’s SPUD Week beneficiaries are the Ramos and Fuller Families.

“The Ramos’ were hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle and were greatly injured,” FACS Coordinator Aubrie Herring said. “They have children at Bill Brown, SV Middle and a freshman at SVHS.”

Cody Fuller is an SVHS Alum who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. All proceeds and donations from SPUD Week will directly benefit the two families.

“It’s important for students to participate because it creates a strong sense of community and support for those around us,” Herring said. “Plus it’s fun and for a good cause.”

Each day of the week, different groups on campus will host activities to help raise money for the beneficiaries. On Monday, the ASL Club will start selling hat passes and raffle tickets that are available throughout the week. The football team is also hosting a movie night at 7 p.m. on the football field, featuring “Encanto”. There will also be a giveback night at Marco’s Pizza, which will take place every night Monday through Wednesday.

“I think students should participate because a little bit of time and effort can be life-changing for a family,” FACS member Zoie Saucedo said.

On Tuesday, ROTC is selling tacos and basketball is hosting a teacher versus student basketball game in the gym. On Wednesday, students will be able to “tape a teacher” during all lunches, and Student Council is hosting a dodgeball tournament afterschool at 5:30 p.m. in the varsity gym.

Finally, there will be Chick-Fil-A teacher lunches available on Thursday and a family night at Friday night’s baseball game at 7 p.m. The raffle winners will also be announced on Friday.

“Students can get involved by attending any of the events scheduled throughout the week,” Herring said. “They can invite their friends and family to join in and attend or participate by spectating or playing the games like dodgeball and basketball or purchase hat passes and raffle tickets also.”
