Interested students gathered in room B117 on Jan. 11 for the first meeting of the school’s newest club – SV Productions.

Freshman Geoffrey Guyer formed the club after discovering his hobby of film production.

“I’ve always been interested in filming,” he said, “so I just wanted to get started to probably put that on my college resume.”

Campus Instructional Coach and Geoffrey’s mother Susan Guyer sponsors SV Productions. After noticing a spike in her son’s passion for film, she knew the school needed an extra curricular film club.

“I wanted to be supportive, not only as a parent but as a faculty member, wanting to encourage students to realize their potential and help them meet their own goals,” she said.

Students will be able to hear from guest speakers with degrees in filmmaking while focusing on creating authentic films and possibly earning scholarships for college.

“(The club) will not be just about producing a finished product,” Guyer said, “but also learning about the ins and outs of filmmaking.”

Meetings will be held every Monday and on Thursday when needed.
