Softball

Softball went 3-3 during the Dripping Springs tournament this past weekend.

The girls lost a close one to Frenship 7-8 followed by another one against Rouse, 3-4. Their bats warmed up for a 9-4 win over Bowie, and 8-1 win over Leander and a 6-2 defeat of Frederciskburg. They fell 0-11 to Georgetown.

Softball travels Friday and Saturday to the Hays tournament.

 

Baseball

At the McAllen tournament this past weekend, the baseball team defeated Tulosa Midway 5-3 before trouncing Holmes 14-3 and then Hidalgo 12-2. A close loss to McAellen 5-6 set up an 8-3 win over Rio Grande City.

The Comal Classic starts Thursday when the boys take on Georgetown at 5 p.m. 

On Friday, the Ranger baseball family will gather at 5:30 p.m. to retire No. 25 in honor of Cody Fuller. The game against El Paso Socorro begins at 6 p.m.

Depending on the results of Thursday and Friday, Saturday’s gametime is to be announced.

 

Girls Soccer

This past Friday, girls soccer took on Seguin, beating them 10-0. Goals came from Jasmin Dominguez, Arianna Monnin, Malia Thalman, Aura Reyes Lopez, Emmy Lambson, Avery Eckert, Emma Siebold, Sabrina Taber, Abby Thompson and Callaghan McGuire. Assisting them was Arriana Monnin (2), Sabrina Taber (4) , Aura Reyes Lopez, Jasmin Dominguez and Kaela Stevens. 

In Tuesday night’s match against Wagner, the girls won 8-0. The goals were scored by Malia Thalman (3), Sabrina Taber (2), Jasmin Dominguez, Emma Siebold and Aura Reyes Lopez. They will host Veterans Memorial on Friday at 7:15 p.m. 

 

Boys Soccer

Boys soccer beat Seguin 5-0 on Friday, with goals from Jax Adkins (2), Kyle Torres, Daryl Awuku and Joshua Mazzotta. Tuesday night, they beat Wagner 3-0. Torres scored twice and Mazzotta scored once. They’ll face Veterans Memorial this Friday at 7:15 p.m.

 

Golf

Boys golf competed in the North East ISD Match Play 2.0 to finish first and third. On Monday, the boys again finished first and third. Jolyon Bowden won with a 2 under part 70.

Girls golf has the A&M Tiger Invitational at College Station.

Boys golf has a state preview Friday and Saturday at White Wing.

 

Tennis 

Tennis competed in the Corpus Spring Fling Feb. 24-25, winning first place over 18 other schools from Texas. 

Rowan Olsen and Jude Bruce took first and second places, respectively, in boys singles while Josh Miller and Kolter Smedely took first in boys doubles. Lance Remington and Peyton Keith took second in boys doubles.

Trieste Perciavalle and Reagan Anderson placed fourth in girls doubles.

In the consolation B bracket Ava Smith and Audrey Beall took first place. Jacob Tewksbury and Barrett Spear were first in boys doubles. In girls singles consolation, Emily Clingman and Zoe Hugos won first and second places, respectively, and Wilson Smith placed 24th in boys singles. Also placing were: Delaney Anderson and Allie Silva, 23rd girls doubles; Electra Hart and Colton Kadlacek, 7th mixed doubles; Kyra Nunns and Jake McAnelly, 10th mixed doubles; and Madeleine Chaney and Maxen Powell, 22nd place mixed doubles.

On Friday, tennis will compete in a tournament at the Hill Country Open – Wimberley/Dripping Springs.

 

SV Athletics
Ranger Relays take place Saturday at Ranger Stadium.

 

Track and Field 

On the strength of medal sweep in the 200 meter dash and a record-breaking performance in the 4X200 meter relay, girls track and field claimed the team title at the Bear Relays in Bastrop.

Alyssa Jones led the 200 m sweep with  Jacquelyn Rolle in second and Favour Uduji in third.

The 4X200 relay team broke itsown school record with a time of 1:40.78. 

Zada Zimmerman dominated the hurdles by placing first in the 100 m and 300m and then went on to place fourth in the high jump.

In the boys 400 meter, AJ Breault placed first and came close to breaking another school record with a time of 48.76.
