New district realignments are set to be released tomorrow altering football brackets.

Texas school districts are set to be realigned tomorrow which will change the sports teams and academic UIL teams compete against. Realignment is based on total student enrolment in a school.

Currently, the school is in the 5A Division 1 classification with football in, Region 3, District 12 and all other sports in Region 4, District 26. It is projected that football will move into Region 4, District 13 while all other sports will remain where they are.

UIL academics will also remain in Region 4, District 26.

The school will remain in the 5A, Division 1 classification due to a total enrolment of 2075. The cutoff for 6A is 2275 students and the cutoff for Division 1 is 1903 students.

With football moving into Region 3, Pieper would become a new competitor along with more teams from The Valley, as opposed to Houston teams.

No new teams will be in the same district for all other sports and academics.

District lines are redrawn every two years. The last time redistricting occurred was in 2022, when the school moved down from 6A to 5A due to Pieper’s opening.

Official redistricting will be announced tomorrow at the Region 20 Education Service Center in San Antonio.
