Football secured a victory against the Seguin Matadors on Friday, winning with a score of 47-7 at Ranger Stadium. The team is set to face the New Braunfels Unicorns tomorrow in their eighth game of the season.
The game started with the Matadors scoring a 73-yard passing touchdown 1:02 into the match, marking their only score of the game.
Minutes later, with 6:16 remaining in the first quarter, Cade Spradling (12) rushed for a 4-yard touchdown, followed by a 41-yard field goal from Trent Amaya (11) with four minutes left in the quarter.
Three minutes into the second quarter, Brad Sowersby (12) caught a 3-yard pass from Spradling, giving Football a 17-7 lead.
Seven minutes later, Hunter Haug (10) intercepted a pass and returned it for a 66-yard pick-six. With 4:58 left in the second quarter, Spradling threw a 75-yard pass to P.K. Moeller (12), who scored a touchdown, extending Football’s lead to 24 points.
Only two minutes later, Sowersby scored his second touchdown of the game with a 19-yard rush.
Although no one scored in the fourth quarter, Brody Day (12) caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Spradling, and Football also forced a safety in the third quarter. This safety marked the end of scoring for the game, which concluded with a final score of 47-7.
In the game, Spradling completed 8 of 10 passes for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns, Sowersby was the leading rusher with 9 carries for 80 yards and 1 touchdown, and Brody Day caught 7 passes for 156 yards and 1 touchdown.
