Q: What is the biggest thing that you had to adjust to when coming to America?
A: There is no public transport here. In Germany, I was way more flexible because I would just take the train or my bike. But here, you have to drive everywhere. That took time to get used to, but I don’t mind it now.
Q: How is Germany different compared to the US?
A: The public transport like I said before, school spirit, schools here are more focused on sports. In Germany, there’s no dress code there. We can wear whatever we want, but here they’re more strict with the dress code. We don’t have air conditioning in our houses or schools in Germany. At our highschools, we don’t have sports teams, so it’s really cool to go to games here. A lot of teenagers already drive here, you have to be at least 18.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about living here?
A: Honestly, the highschool experience, and the football games. They’re really fun and loud.
Q: Why did you want to do an exchange year?
A: Experiencing the American way of life, and highschool experiences like homecoming or football games.
Q: What are you most looking forward to for this year?
A: Homecoming, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Prom
