Boys basketball prepares for start of season

After a 1-27 record in the 2015-2016 season, the boys basketball teams take on Antonian on Friday, November 11th. The district is in one of toughest in Texas consisting of Steele, Wagner, Clemens, and Judson. In the scrimmage against O’Connor the starting five for the varsity team was Justin Nutt, Jordan Stagg, Jyael Gervin, Sean Bolds, and Alex Peavy..

One of the toughest team in the district will be Steele who went all the way to the final four in state and finished with a 32-4 record last year. Along with Steele, Clemens will be a tough team to beat as well who finished with a 11-1 record in district.

Wagner opens the season ranked number one in many area rankings. Wagner failed to make the playoffs last season, but returns multiple players from their young team.

Judson made a run to the third round of last year’s playoffs, and was eliminated by Steele. The district also added another tough opponent with East Central. The Hornets finished with a 25-7 record last season as their district champs.

There are nine games and one tournament the team will compete in to prepare for the district season. The team opens the district season hosting Steele on Dec. 20.
