The varsity baseball team ended the season on a disappointing upset loss to Johnson in a 7-5 nail biter in the second round of playoffs. As the team enters into the new season that same disappointment is driving them to have a successful season.

“Our expectations is to win the district championship and win in the playoffs,” Head Coach Chad Koehl said.

Last season the team finished 4th in district with a 7-5 record in district play while tying with Schertz Clemens for most wins overall. They had 18 wins 8 losses and 2 ties. The team had the best home record in the district with 12 wins in the season. This season the team is looking for players to step up. “We have to find guys to step up on the mound,” Koehl said, “We lost a lot of senior pitchers last year.”

Junior C.J Horn led the team in hitting with a batting average of .462 and 24 hits. Senior Noah Rosol led the team in pitching wins last year with seven while aso having only one loss on the season. The returning starters are Jack Gibbens, CJ Horn, Mason Pierce, Ryan Jennings, Hunter Shields, Eric Alvarado, Davis Grotchett, and Cade Galvan. The team’s first official game in in the Border Olympics tournament in Laredo on Thursday, February 23rd.
