The varsity baseball team won a thriller last Friday as they defeated rival New Braunfels 4-3 on the road. The game started off less than ideal for team as they went down 1-0 early in the first inning.

Through four innings the team was still down 1-0 but were finally able to get their first score of the game in the top of the 5th inning to tie it up before allowing another run in the bottom of the 5th to the Unicorns putting them down 2-1. New Braunfels came out again in the bottom of the 6th putting the team down 3-1 as they went into the top of the 7th needing to tie the game up to keep it going.

The team needed two runs but ended up getting three as they took the lead in the top of the 7th to go up 4-3 on New Braunfels and put the pressure on the Unicorns in the bottom of the 7th. After a scoreless bottom of the 7th for New Braunfels the team was able to leave New Braunfels with a victory over their bitter rivals.

After the thriller against New Braunfels the team went on to roll the Steele Knights defeating them by a score of 14-3. The game ended in five innings after the team run ruled the Knights thanks in large part to the seven run 4th inning for the team.

Improving their record to 17-5 (7-1 in district) on the year, the team now sits at first place in the district race holding a .5 game lead over the Clemens Buffaloes. As they look to continue a recent six game winning streak the team now turns their attention to their upcoming game against East Central this Friday. In their last game against East Central the team fell to the Hornets 5-4. The game this Friday is at home and starts at 7:00 p.m.
