Deadline for voter registration in May 6 bond election is today
April 6, 2017
Today is the last day to register to vote for the May 6 bond election to build two high schools in Comal school district.
The bond is worth $263.5 Million and will have no affect on the taxes for residents of the area. Soe high school seniors who are registered to vote were ready and willing to vote on the subject.
“School’s getting too populated and brand new neighborhoods keep popping up.” senior Matt Monroy said.
Danielle Carpenter, also a senior, was worried about the growing population in the future.
“The traffic to and from school is way too much for us who are driving and always risk getting tardies to class because of the crowded halls or the pileup traffic in the parking lot,” she said.
She also worried about the parking situation the school will face in the future.
“Construction will also take another school year just to add more parking spaces and maybe even another teachers’ lot,” she said.
However, there are also those who are 17 and are not yet eligible to register who don’t see the point, like senior Maja Kaiser.
“I’ll be out of state,” Kaiser said. “This won’t pertain to me in the future.”
