On fourth down with 15 seconds left in the game, everyone on their feet, and the stadium rumbling with the roars of the crowd, the Ranger football team took the field for one last play. At the snap,  junior quarterback Levi Williams dropped back to launch one final pass into the air to find senior receiver Ricky Rios 27 yards away, coming down with the catch to secure the 24-20 comeback win for the team.

The Hawks struck first with a 21-yard passing touchdown, resulting in a 7-0 lead in the early minutes of the first quarter. The team responded with consecutive scores, a 40-yard field goal by junior kicker Mason Reid and a nine-yard rushing touchdown by junior running back Nick Akin, put the team on top 10-7 heading into halftime.

Hendrickson responded with two touchdowns at the start of the third and fourth quarters, taking a 20-10 lead. The Rangers were not done yet as they cut down the lead with a quick eight-yard rushing touchdown from junior quarterback Levi Williams, making the score 20-17 with just more than five minutes remaining in the game. After a defensive stop, the team was back on the field with 2:30 remaining for one final drive.

It was on this drive that Williams tossed the game winning touchdown to senior receiver Ricky Rios with 15 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Ranger football team.

Williams made his first career start at quarterback,  closing the game with a total 182 yards passing including a rushing touchdown. Junior running back Nick Akin led the team in rushing with 24 yards and a rushing touchdown.

The team takes on Austin Anderson at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ranger Stadium for the first home game of the season.
