Volleyball digs to prevent score from Canyon

The varsity volleyball team defeated New Braunfels Canyon on the road Friday following their first district loss only three days before, improving their district record to 4-1. The Rangers came into the game following a 3-1 loss to Clemens. Both New Braunfels Canyon and the Rangers came into the game with a 3-1 district record Canyon having a  better overall record (21-11) than the Rangers (18-11).

The match went all five games, with Smithson Valley finishing off Canyon 15-8 in the final game. The two teams took turns winning each game, with the Rangers winning the first, third and fifth games while Canyon won the second and fourth. Junior Tara McLeod led the Rangers in kills with 12 while Senior Lauren Kadilis led the match in assists with 27 along with Senior Gabi Sandoval leading in digs with 22.

The Rangers take on their next opponent in Converse Judson on Tuesday at 7:00 away from home. Judson are 1-4 in district so far and are coming off of a 0-3 loss to Clemens on Friday.
