Dictator editor reinstated, staff prepares for worst

LJ Haider, Online Editor

In witty response to my column from last year, I am still convinced that our now Co Editor-in-Chief is still a tyrannical dictator who plays her fellow editors like puppets. Behind that perfect smile and well dressed honors student is the empress who stops at nothing to perfect the paper and earn us recognition for our paper.

To catch you up to speed this is the same dictator who, just last year, made the new staff writers for paper quake in their boots. We were outcasted! Not really… BUT we were called “minions,” those yellow abominations we shall not speak of. Furthermore, our “editor” has nothing but negative comments when she edits our stories. These grievances make me want to write as furiously as Thomas Jefferson but the small act of sharing this column puts me in absolute and imminent danger!

This year for example, when the queen of quotes passes by our stomachs fall and our brow continues to sweat just as they always has. The sheer force of her speech rips our hearts in two as her criticism pierces deep within our souls. To say it simply, our editor is something else.

I can just imagine her rolling her eyes at my exaggeration of an opinion piece but to say truth, I am where I am now (a successful student and newspaper finalist) because of her. I joke that she manipulates people but she’s really leading them to a more successful career. She just seems like a dictator because she cares too much. And we’re a better team because of it.

Not to cut the mushy stuff short but I find myself also craving the same kind of power I criticize her for. I guess the apple never falls far from the tree.
