Over the break Sony released the trailer for the upcoming coming Slender Man movie. The premise of the movie is that the Slender Man had been released after four highschool girls performed a ritual to learn more about the Slender Man. The movie then follows the downfall of the girls as they fall into madness as the supernatural interferes with their lives.

Quickly after its creation in 2009 the Slender Man grew in popularity, and in 2012 Parsec Productions released the video game Slender: The Eight Pages which was also very popular.

Sony doesn’t follow the plot of the game and instead follows the original concept of the Slender Man corrupting his victims minds and altering them.

The trailer disappointed me because it was filled with many horror cliches like bugs and diseases rather than the terrifying unknown and lostness that the Slender game gave to its audience. Personally I would have preferred the movie to more similar to the Blair Witch movie with more mystery and unknown.
